Hill City Kinsmen Hold Successful “Fans Lending Hands” Dinner to Support Local Camp

On May 5, Governor Dave was in Thunder Bay to attend Thunder Bay Hill City Kinsmen’s 7th annual “Fans Lending Hands” dinner which is held annually to support local causes.  This year, the beneficiaries of the event were “Our Kids Count”, and “Wilderness Discovery Handicapable Centre” . The Wilderness Discovery camp is a facility located at Lake Shebandowan.  It is a handicap-accessible camp that has existed for over 40 years, but recently has fallen into disrepair and was facing closure.  The Hill City Kinsmen partnered with a few other local groups and have made a 20 year commitment to complete necessary repairs and upgrades and keep this camp running for the foreseeable future. The dinner was a great success and a good chunk of money Read More

Dryden Kinsmen donate $5000 to local hospital CT scanner

Recently, the Dryden Kinsmen were proud to present a cheque for $5000 to the Dryden Regional Health Centre to aid their efforts in replacing their CT scanner. The current CT scanner is at the end of its life span and is no longer operable.  This is a vital piece of equipment as it allows emergency diagnostics to be performed locally, without residents having to travel several hours to nearby Winnipeg or Thunder Bay for medical service.  Unfortunately, the government is unable to provide funding to replace this important piece of equipment, so the health centre must rely on fundraising efforts from local service groups like the Dryden Kinsmen to raise the money needed. Great job to the Dryden Kinsmen for their hard work and generosity Read More

The Pas Kinettes Celebrate Their Charter Gala on April 28

Nearly 100 Kin members from across District 2 were in the Pas to celebrate D2’s newest club, The Pas Kinettes.  The evening included a dinner and dance, as well as introductions and welcome remarks from club and district officers.  At the gala, three new Kinette members were initiated into the club.  This gala was a fantastic introduction for the new club, and many new friendships were formed.  The excitement and potential in the room was palpable, and Kinette Club of The Pas is already off to a great start, with nearly 30 members and a handful of projects already completed, with more being planned as we speak.  A very warm and heartfelt welcome to the ladies of the Kinette Club of The Pas, we know Read More

National Day of KINdness “Own the Day” Strategy

In anticipation of National Day of KINdness, and to increase our online social media presence all year around, Kin Canada has released a strategy for clubs to follow online.  This will ensure that the Kin-related posts you make on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are seen by as many people as possible, which helps us share our stories among our membership and to the public at large. This strategy focuses on the use of hashtags (#hashtag) and handles (@handle).  All posts that contain a certain hashtag, (#kincanada for example) are grouped together, so by doing a search of “#kincanada”, every post from coast to coast that includes that hashtag will be displayed.  By adding that hashtag to your post, now everybody in the association is able Read More
