This year’s 27th Annual Kinsmen CF Mini Golf Classic raked in a whopping $11,400 for Cystic Fibrosis.
This is a fantastic fundraiser that has gone on for 27 years and it’s limited only by ones imagination. It is loads of fun for the club and participants alike. The hidden beauty of this event is such that the participants are the ones that actually do the fundraising for the club. Years ago our club was searching for an indoor fundraiser to help break the winter blues and we came upon this concept.
The Mini Golf Classic is a mobile 18 hole miniature golf course and the fundraising is structured much like a bike or walk a thon where the participants or “golfers” in this case go door to door, friend to friend or business to business and collect pledge money for Cystic Fibrosis. The collected pledges are the golfers “green fee”. Walk ons are also permitted with a minimum “green fee” of $75 dollars. Our golfers are so committed to this event that we are fortunate enough to have many turn in pledges exceeding $500.00 on a yearly basis and some up to $3,000!
In a nut shell, a challenging 18 hole miniature golf course is setup in three hotels where refreshments and a meal are served and prizes awarded. Transportation is provided between venues, if venues are not within walking distance such that drinking and driving will not be an issue. Flin Flon businesses have been exceedingly generous and some great prizes are awarded! To spice things up we also have an elimination draw for a trip for two to Winnipeg (courtesy of Calm air) and a weekend stay (courtesy of The Victoria Inn)
